StegoShare is a steganography tool, that allows to embed large files into multiple images. May be used for anonymous file sharing.

Features

  • Supports various image formats (png, jpg, bmp, gif, tiff etc)
  • Maximal supported hidden file's size is 2Gb, number of cover images in the set up to 65536
  • Average capacity is 40% (in 250Mb images can be embedded 100Mb file)
  • 128-bit encryption
  • Good output images quality (changes undetectable by human eye)

Use in the file sharing networks

This software can be easily used for anonymous file sharing. An uploader downloads legal images from the public photo hosting, after that embeds in them censored file, then uploads pictures to the public photo torrent tracker and the link referencing stego pictures with censored file's description puts on forum or blog. Downloaders and seeders, as also public photo trackers, if caught distributing illegal files, are protected from legal prosecution, because they can always use plausible deniability that they did not knew about illicit file in the images (it is impossible to prove the opposite, human eye cannot see the difference between ordinary image and picture with embedded hidden file). It is absurd to start litigation against seeder of the stego images.
