Skarnsund is a sound in Trondheimsfjord connecting the inner section, Beitstadfjord, with the outer section. Skarnsund is about half a kilometer wide with Inderøy to the east and Mosvik to the west.

Prior to December 19, 1991 the sound was crossed by a car ferry, operated by Innherredsferja, at which point Skarnsund Bridge (1,010 m long) was opened. On the Inderøy side is the village of Vangshylla and on the Mosvik side is the village of Venneshamn and Kjerringvik. Skarnsund is noted site for both sports fishing and underwater diving.
