WBGZ (1570 AM) is a radio station broadcasting a News Talk Information format. Licensed to Alton, Illinois, USA, the station serves the St. Louis area. The station is currently owned by Metroplex Communications, Inc. and features programing from Salem Communications.[1] Its slogan is "Radio for the River Bend." It broadcasts local news, sports and talk for southwestern Illinois, primarily the greater Alton area. On the air for more than 50 years, the station was originally known as WOKZ, until it changed to its current call letters in the early-1980s. It is a 24 hour talk format with two daily talk shows, a morning and afternoon drive show, local weekend programming including a popular Outdoors Show, and much more. www.wbgzradio.com and www.altondailynews.com are two web sites with more information on the station. It can be reached in a few areas in northern St. Louis County in Missouri, as well as Southwest Illinois.
