Julius Petersen (1839-1910) was a Danish mathematician.

He made an early contribution to Graph theory: In 1892, he proposed a graph, known today as "the Petersen graph".

He published a systematic treatment of geometrical constructions (with compasses and straightedge) in 1880. A French translation was reprinted in 1990.
