Volume Two (2007-2008) - Generations
Template:Future television In a recent interview with E! Online Tim Kring said: "There are plans to add one new, one big character next season." He also stated that the "Heroes" that remain are likely to stick around, because he's changed his MO. "I thought Heroes was going to have an ever-shifting cast," he says, "but the cast hit in such big ways that now the challenge is to figure out how to use them all and still fold in a couple of new people, because I still think that the origin stories are the most fascinating, in some ways." [5] Masi Oka, who portrays Hiro Nakamura, recently said in an interview with Sci-Fi Wire, “I think it’s great the way the finale ends… It’s a wrapping up of volume one, which is called ‘Genesis.’ And it wraps up the whole bomb storyline. So it’s a nice finale, and there’s a great cliffhanger with everybody, I would say. And you do get to see a little bit of volume two, which is called ‘Generations.’” [6]. Tim Kring also revealed that although he plans to keep most of the "surviving cast" with the addition of a couple of new faces, Season 2 will start off with the heritage and lineage of some of the major heroes families, including the first generation of heroes (Mr. Linderman, the Petrelli Family, Charles Deveaux, and Kaito Nakamura, among others.)[7] This season will have a total of 24 episodes. Some additional new characters that have been announced, but not cast yet, include, according to Kring, a boyfriend for Claire, a 28-year-old black mother, a surrogate for Micah, an Irish mobster, and a twentysomething Latina.
Volume Two begins at the conclusion of "How to Stop an Exploding Man". Hiro Nakamura lands in the middle of a seventeenth-century battlefield near Kyoto, Japan. Kensei is about to begin a battle with another family when the event is interrupted by an [eclipse].
Heroes: Origins
In a May 2007 press release, NBC announced that in addition to "Volume Two," there would be an additional spin-off, Heroes: Origins,[8] consisting of six stand-alone episodes (for a total of 30 episodes set in the Heroes universe). Each episode of Origins will introduce a new character; viewers will be able to select which hero will join the cast in the third season of Heroes. Origins is intended to remove the need for the long mid-season hiatus, which might cause the ratings for Heroes to falter when it returns.[9] How it will air has not yet been decided, although series creator Tim Kring has said that Origins would not be 'peppered' throughout the run of the main Heroes season, as this would be confusing.
