Aleya Sen is an Indian director, producer and writer of Bollywood films. She made her directorial and writing debut with the film Dil Juunglee (2018).[1][2] She also produced the National award-winning film Badhaai Ho in 2018 which collected 221 cr at the box office.[3][4] Her latest release is a comedy-drama film Trial Period which released on 21st July, 2023 which won Sen the Best Writer award at e4m Play Streaming Media Awards. The film released to tremendous critical acclaim.
Career
Film
Sen started her career as an assistant director under Pradeep Sarkar in Delhi. In 2004, Sen along with Amit Sharma and Hemant Bhandari, founded their entrepreneurial venture Chrome Pictures, an advertisement and film production house in Mumbai which is one of the top 3 ad production houses in the country.
In 2018, Aleya co-produced National Award Winner “Badhaai Ho”- A Comedy Drama which went on to collect Rs. 221 crores at the box office worldwide. She also made her debut as a Director and Writer with “Dil Juunglee” starring Taapsee Pannu.
Her next film “Trial Period” starring Genelia Deshmukh and Manav Kaul released in 2023. She recently won the “Best Writer Award” at the e4m Play Streaming Media Awards for Trial Period. The film also won awards for Best Actor (Manav Kaul - Most Impactful Performance - Bollywood Film Journalist Awards) and Best Actress (Genelia Deshmukh - Best Actress in a Comic Role at Talentrack Awards) The film was nominated across 9 categories at the Filmfare OTT Awards and ITA Awards (Best Original Film - Trial Period, Best Story OTT- Aleya Sen, Best Actor Original Film- Manav Kaul). Genelia was also nominated for Best Actress in a Comic Role at the Dadasaheb Phalke Awards.
Sen also served as a creative producer for Netflix's Lust Stories 2 - Tilchatta starring Kajol Devgn which topped the Netflix charts worldwide.

Known for famous campaigns like Hanes 'no-tag' (won Bronze at Asia Pacific Advertising Festival) and UTI (won Gold at ABBY), Tide (featured in Shots and Luerzer's TV Archives), and more. In 2013, she directed the advertisement of the highly critical campaign - '18-Again'. The film was widely discussed on both national and international news forums like The Guardian, BBC, Huffington Post, Young Turks, New York Daily News Afaqs!, The Daily Mail and Jezebel.
Some of her most successful and highly acclaimed advertisement work has been for brands – Wagh Bakri which was awarded Best Film at the Dadasaheb Phalke Awards 2015, NDTV Foodistan which won Best Food & Lifestyle Promo at Promax and Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) which won Gold at ABBY to name a few. Her work & style of direction have received a lot of appreciation across nationally and internationally recognized platforms including The Cannes Lion, ProMax Asia Awards, New York Film Festival Spikes, and many more.
Entrepreneurial
As an entrepreneur, Sen has expanded her expertise across multiple verticals. She oversees Crimsen Tales, a content hub; Planet Chrome, a post-production studio; and Minikin DGWorks, the digital arm of her parent company, Chrome Pictures. Additionally, she leads a non-profit organization, the Phool Versha Foundation (PVF).
