Kumarila Bhatta Dih (Maithili: कुमारील भट्ट डीह) is historical place related to the Indian philosopher Kumarila Bhatta in the Mithila region of Bihar.[1][2]

Description

In the Mithila region, there are two Kumarila Bhatta Dih located at Bhatsimar village in Madhubani district and Bhatpura village in Darbhanga district. According to legend, the Kumarila Bhatta Dih located at Bhatsimar village of Madhubani district is believed as the birth place of the philosopher Kumarila Bhatta[1] and similarly the second Kumarila Bhatta Dih located at Bhatpura village of Darbhanga district is believed as the academy of Kumarila Bhatta where Indian philosopher Mandan Mishra was taught Mimansa Shastra.[2]
