Kelly Fisher (model)
Kelly Movshina, previously known as Kelly Fisher, is an American property developer and former model. Throughout her modeling career, she appeared in advertisement campaigns for Calvin Klein, Victoria's Secret, Armani, and La Perla. Fisher was featured on the covers of Vogue, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, W, and Elle.
Fisher was also known for her relationship with Egyptian film producer Dodi Fayed, who was killed alongside Diana, Princess of Wales in Paris in a 1997 car crash.
Early life
Fisher was born in Louisville, Kentucky.[1][2] She is the daughter of Judith Dunaway.[3] Her family later relocated to Toronto for her father's job as a business executive.[4]
Career
Fisher began modeling while she was a teenager.[5] She was featured on the covers of fashion magazines including Elle, Marie Claire, Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and W.[3][2][5]
Fisher also modeled for Armani, La Perla, Calvin Klein, and Victoria's Secret.[2][5]
After retiring from modeling, Fisher began working as a property developer in South Carolina.[6]
Personal life
In 2007, Fisher married a Russian pilot named Mikhail Movshina whom she met in the Central African Republic.[1][6] They have one daughter and live in Aiken, South Carolina.[4] They previously lived in Paris and in Switzerland.[2]
Relationship with Dodi Fayed
In July 1996, Fisher met Egyptian heir and film producer Dodi Fayed.[1] While in a relationship with Fisher, Fayed began a relationship with Diana, Princess of Wales in July 1997.[7][8] In August 1997, Fisher sued Dodi, represented by Gloria Allred,[9] sued Fayed in the Santa Monica Superior Court and claimed that they were engaged to be married, with a wedding set for August 9th 1997, when he began his relationship with the princess.[7][3] A spokesperson for the Al Fayed family denied an engagement between Fisher and Fayed.[7] Fisher withdrew her lawsuit on September 1, 1997, the day after Fayed and the princess were killed in a car crash.[7][10]
Fisher participated in the inquest into the death of Diana, Princess of Wales.[2]
According to journalist Martyn Gregory's 2004 book Diana: The Last Days, Fisher and Fayed were officially engaged in February 1997 and were gifted a mansion in Malibu, California from Fayed's father, the billionaire Mohamed Al-Fayed.[1] Fisher reportedly picked out antique furniture for their Maliby home from the al-Fayed family home in Paris, Villa Windsor, which had previously been owned by Prince Edward, Duke of Windsor and Wallis Simpson.[1]
In popular culture
In 2023 she was portrayed by Welsh actress Erin Richards in the historical drama television series The Crown.[2][11]
