SARS-CoV-2 Omicron BF.7 variant

SARS-CoV-2 Omicron BF.7 is a subvariant of the SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant.[1][2][3]

It is responsible for the late-2022 wave of COVID-19 in China.[4] Before China, this variant has been making rounds in USA and Europe since August 2022.[5][6] In China, it was firstly reported in Yantai and Shaoguan districts of China in late September 2022.[7]

Early studies have indicated that it is highly infectious and spreads faster than other variants.[8][9][10]

Symptoms

There are five symptoms of the variant: congestion, sore throat, cough, fatigue and runny nose are the most reported and common symptoms.[11]

Spread

It has been reported in Belgium, China, Denmark, Norway, France, Germany, India, Mongolia, Philippines, India, United Kingdom and United States.[12][13]
