SARS-CoV-2 Omicron BF.7 variant

SARS-CoV-2 Omicron BF.7 variant is a Variant of SARS-CoV-2[1][2].

It is responsible for the current wave of COVID-19 in China[3] Before China, this variant has been making rounds in USA and Europe since as early as early September 2022. [4]. In China, it was firstly reported in Yantai and Shaoguan districts of China in late September of 2022[5].

Early studies have indicated that it is highly infectious and spreads faster than other variants[6][7][8].

Symptoms

There are five symptoms of the variant are congestion, sore throat, cough, fatigue and runny nose which are the most reported and common symptoms[9].

Spread

It has been reported in Belgium, China, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Mongolia, United Kingdom and United States[10][11].
