Tecovas is an American clothing company specializing in Cowboy boots and Western-style apparel. The company was founded in 2015 by Paul Hedrick as a Direct-to-consumer business and is based in Austin, Texas.
History
Hedrick, a Dallas native, graduated from Harvard and began working as a management consultant in Greenwich, Conn., where he found it difficult to purchase cowboy boots. He started designing and manufacturing boots in Leon, Mexico,[2] before launching the online retailer in 2015.[3]
Retail Model and Expansion
Along with to cowboy boots, Tecovas also sells leather accessories and denim products.[4] In addition to its online sales, the company began opening brick and mortar stores in 2019,[5] opening locations in Austin,[6] Nashville,[7], Houston,[8] Charlotte,[9] and Charleston.[10] As of June 2021, Tecovas had a total of 16 stores across eight states.[11]
In January 2022, the company announced $56 million in funding and reported $100 million in revenue in 2021.[12][13]
Business During COVID-19 Pandemic
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tecovas opened seven new physical locations. It grew sales as a result of digital advertising,[14] with New York and Chicago as two of its largest markets.[15]
In October 2021, it reported a 61% increase in revenue from 2020, with annual revenue "comfortably in the nine-figure range".[16]
It plans to open an additional store in Waco, Texas.[17]
