Danna Azrieli Hakim (Template:Lang-he; born 3 June 1967; Montreal, Canada) is a Israeli real estate developer, and philanthropist. Since 2014 Azrieli has been Chairwoman of Azrieli Group,[3][4] Israeli real estate and holding company. Azrieli is also Chairwoman of the Azrieli Foundation (Israel), and a board member of the Azrieli Foundation (Canada). She is also board member of the Weizmann Institute of Science, Tel Aviv University, and the Darca schools. She has an estimated net worth of $1.9 billion.[2]
Early life and education
Azrieli was born in Montreal, Canada. She is the youngest daughter of Stephanie and the late David Azrieli, Canadian real estate developer, and philanthropist.[5][6] She holds a B.A in Sociology and Anthropology, from Swarthmore College in 1990, and a Juris Doctor (JD) from Vermont Law School, in1993. Upon immigrating to Israel, Azrieli worked at Gornitzky & Co. from 2000-2002 before she joined the Azrieli Group.[3][7]
Career
Before becoming Chairwoman of Azrieli Group, Azrieli worked in Canpro Investment Ltd., the family’s then North American real estate business arm, initially managing the business in the United States before immigrating to Israel in 2000. From 2006, Azrieli was a director of Granite HaCarmel, and of its subsidiaries, Tambour, Sonol, Supergas and GES.[8] Azrieli was appointed as deputy Chairwoman of the Azrieli Group in 2010, when the company went public. Azrieli went on to act as Chairwomon in 2014 and was officially appointed to the role following her father’s death.[9]
Under the leadership of Danna Azrieli, the company increased its market capitalization from NIS 12 billion to a value of NIS 37 billion.[10][7] Under her management, Azrieli Group build Azrieli Sarona Tower, skyscraper in the Sarona neighborhood, Tel Aviv, Israel[11][12] Under her direction, the company developed Senior housing projects, Palace Tel Aviv, Palace Modiin, and Palace Lahavim and other projects in locations throughout the country like Rishonim in Rishon Lezion, Ramla Mall, Ha'manor in Holon, and Azrieli Town in Tel Aviv.[13] In 2016 Azrieli Group launch Omnichannel retail site, azrieli.com ecommerce website.[14] In July 2019, Azrieli directed the company to enter the data centers field and acquired 24% of the US-based company Compass for $200 million.[15][16][17] In July 2021 the company acquired Norwegian data centers company Green Mountain Data Centers for NIS 2.8b.[18] Under her leadership, the company also entered other new sectors, including hotels and rental housing.[19][20][21][22]
Philanthropy
Danna Azrieli is the Chairwoman of the Azrieli Foundation (Israel), and is a member of the Canadian Azrieli Foundation, organizations that support a number of education programs, universities, research institutes and medical centers and hospitals.[3][23] In 2004, Azrieli founded, the Azrieli Empowerment program for at risk youth in middle schools for over 4,000 youths across Israel. Since 2018, the program is managed by and run through the Darca schools, where Azrieli also serves as a board member. The Azrieli Foundation (Israel) committed NIS 110 million to support the Empowerment program and has recently committed another NIS 10 million for a teachers and principals program "ELA" (Educational Leadership Accelerator)[24] In 2017 Azrieli Foundation donated $50 million to Bar-Ilan University Faculty of Medicine in Safed, and it was renamed the Azrieli Faculty of Medicine.[25]
In 2021, the foundation made two donations to medical research - one of NIS 40 million to Autism Research at the National Autism Research Centre of Israel (NARCI),[26] and another of $50 million USD to the Weizmann Institute of Science to establish the Azrieli Institute for Brain and Neural Sciences.[27] Azrieli is also a board member of Darca schools.[28]
Between the years 2007-2010, Azrieli served as Chairwoman of Kesher, an organization which supports families with special needs.[29][30] Between the years 2007-2013 she served as Chairwoman of the international board of Shenkar College of Engineering and Design.[7] In 2018, Azrieli was the Israeli Chair of the General Assembly of the Jewish Federation Annual Meeting in Israel. Azrieli spearheaded the Tel-Aviv University's Architect competition in 2019, as part of Azrieli Foundation's NIS 75 million donation to establish the David Azrieli School of Architecture in the University.[31] Azrieli sits on many boards among them is on the international Board of Governors of the Weizmann Institute of Science,[32] the Board of Governors of Tel Aviv University,[33]and the board of the Holocaust Claims Conference, which provides grants to organizations that assist Holocaust survivors around the world and promotes Shoah education and research. [34]

Azrieli is married to Danny Hakim, they have two daughters.
