Danna Azrieli Hakim (Template:Lang-he; born 3 June 1967; Montreal, Canada) is a Israeli real estate developer, and philanthropist. Since 2014 Azrieli has been Chairwoman of Azrieli Group,[3][4] Israeli real estate and holding company, taking over from her father, David Azrieli, on his passing in 2014. Azrieli is also Chairwoman of the Azrieli Foundation - Israel, and a board member of the Azrieli Foundation Canada. She also board member of the Weizmann Institute of Science, Tel Aviv University, and the Darca schools. She has an estimated net worth of $1.9 billion.[2]

Early life and education

Azrieli was born in Montreal, Canada. She is the youngest daughter of Stephanie and the late David Azrieli, Canadian real estate developer, and philanthropist.[5][6] She holds a B.A in Sociology and Anthropology, from Swarthmore College in 1990, and a Juris Doctor (JD) from Vermont Law School, in1993. Upon immigrating to Israel, Azrieli worked at Gornitzky & Co..[3][7]

Career

Before becoming chairperson of Azrieli Group, Azrieli had worked in the family business for 15 years, initially managing the business in the United States before immigrating to Israel in 2004. Azrieli has been board member of Azrieli Group since the company went public in 2010, and Appointed deputy chairmen in 2012.between the years 2007-2013 she served as chairwoman of the international board of Shenkar College of Engineering and Design.[7] Azrieli went on to act as chairwomon in 2014 due to her father’s ill health and was later officially appointed to the role upon his death.[8]

In 2014, Azrieli was appointed as Active Chairwoman of the Company's board of directors, after many years in which she served in key positions in the Group. Under the leadership of Danna Azrieli, the company increased it's value from 12 billion nis, to a value of 37 billion[9][7] In 2016 Azrieli Group launch azrieli.com ecommerce website.[10] In July 2019, Azrieli entered the data centers field and acquired 24% of the US-based company Compass for $200 million.[11][12][13] In July 2021 Azrieli acquired Norwegian data centers company Green Mountain Data Centers for NIS 2.3b.[14] Under the management of Danna Azrieli, Azrieli Group build Azrieli Sarona Tower, skyscraper in the Sarona neighborhood, Tel Aviv, Israel[15][16] also the developments of Senior Housing, Palace Modiin and Lahavim Senior Housing Facilities.[17] also the Company entered new sectors, including data centers, Senior Housing, hotels, rental housing sectors.[18][19][20][21]

Philanthropy

Azrieli is the Chairwoman of the Israeli Azrieli Foundation, that support of a number of education programs, universities, research institutes and medical centres.[3][22] In 2017 Azrieli Foundation donates $50 million to Bar-Ilan University Galilee Faculty of Medicine in Safed, and renamed to Azrieli Faculty of Medicine.[23] In 2018, the Azrieli Foundation announced that it would donate NIS 110 million over five years as part of an alliance agreement with Darca schools.[24] In 2021, the foundation made two donations to medical research - one of NIS 40 million to Autism Research at the National Autism Research Centre of Israel (NARCI),[25] and another of $50 million USD to the Weizmann Institute of Science to establish the Azrieli Institute for Brain and Neural Sciences.[26] Azrieli is also board member of the Azrieli Foundation Canada, and board member of Darca schools.[27]

Azrieli is married to Danny Hakim, they have two daughters.
