Edit dispute on Kardashev scale
In the last month or so there's been a edit dispute on the article, about what it is, who it was meant for, where the article needs to go, whether it needs to be split. Not of lot of people work on it, so there's very few people deciding these issues. I was wondering if you could take a look at the article, it's history, and talk page and put your two cents in at the bottom of the Talk:Kardashev scale page. If you could, it'd be really helpful. Peer review St. Barnabas Church, Upper Marlboro, Maryland
I was wondering if you could take some time out of your schedule to head over to the St. Barnabas Church, Upper Marlboro, Maryland and give us an honest peer review. The page has evolved quite a bit in the last few months, and it would be fantastic if a prominent editor/contributor like yourself, could head over and give us at Wikipedia:WikiProject Maryland some sound opinion and ideas on improvements for the page. Several of us have worked very hard at improving the page, and we need great outside, reliable and trustworthy users to come over and help us improve. If you are interested in joining the peer review discussion with other prominent users/contributors, much like yourself, please follow the link. Thank you very much for your help and your continued effort to improve Wikipedia and its quality! Thanks for including Edgewood's wikipage in WikiProject Maryland and listing it for assessment. I've been working hard to try to get the page updated and formatted properly and I'm continuing to gather info at the school every day. I appreciate your help and the support of your WikiProject. I see you've assessed its importance as "Low", but what about the article's quality assessment? It is still listed as "Stub" when it passed GA back on February 11. JGHowes talk - 04:06, 13 March 2008 (UTC) Response: My error, when added an article to a project I normally will not change a current rating & Hampton National had a current stub rating - missed the top banner GA rating. Use of New Template
I have created a template {{WikiProject Maryland/flag/animated}} using a commons image that could be used on the front page of the Maryland project. As you can see, I have configured it to fly behind the wiki-puzzle-world logo in the upper left portion of the screen. I will leave it there for a couple of days and invite your comments as to whether we should use it on our front page, or not.--«Marylandstater» «reply» 16:32, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

MA & PA Heritage Trail, Inc.
Good Day:
I am the secretary of the [MA & PA Heritage Trail, Inc.] [1]. I also do community outreach for the organization. I am interested in updating the MA & PA Heritage Trail Wiki entry and see that it is part of a larger project about MD.
I am new to Wiki and want to make sure that I follow the correct procedure and respect the work of the person who took the time to start the entry about the trail.
Can you help me out or direct me to someone who can provide me with the procedures? I have tried following the links in the Maryland Project and am having difficulty understanding what to do.
Should I simply submit my revised article for assessment?

R1a article
Hi. Saw your recent edit to R1a. As a recent editor on the article your perspective on the talk page discussions right now would be appreciated. Things are slightly messy, but a few outside views might work wonders. I am writing to all recent editors of the article.--Andrew Lancaster (talk) 21:04, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
- I agree it looks hard to get into but that is just because of the failed discussions on the talkpage. I have tried to make it easy with a diff, so that you can compare two proposed versions of the R1a article. Most differences of opinion have been to do with wording, and the question of what is encyclopedic. For example, is the word haplogroup jargon that should be removed from this article about a haplogroup? See [2].--Andrew Lancaster (talk) 16:06, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Multiple-arch dams
Hello, Deanlaw. I noticed you're edit to Arch dam and am having trouble making sense of what the book's author wrote (pg. 115). After Gleno Dam, there was more than one multiple arch (buttress) dam built to include some big ones like the Daniel-Johnson Dam, Itaipu Dam and the Bartlett Dam. More here as well. I think the author was referring to specific designs as they changed over the years. I am still doing some research because I don't think the wording is too accurate. Multiple-arch isn't a terribly popular design but it was still applied after Gleno. I figured maybe you had some thoughts.--NortyNort (Holla) 09:43, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
- When the author used "rare exception" I was a bit thrown-off but I think we are on the same page. Thanks for the edits to Gleno Dam by the way. I used a translated Italian source for much of the background and the translation was really fuzzy on the part about the dam builders getting permits.--NortyNort (Holla) 08:11, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for April 4
Hi. When you recently edited Coven, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Drawing Down the Moon (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Constance Worth Image
Hi Deanlaw. Its great you found an image of Jocelyn Howarth (Constance Worth). I have a better image of her from the courtroom scene in The Wages of Sin, but am not confident about the copyright. As I understand it from your note on the photo - this film is no longer copyrighted so I could upload it? NB: Jocelyn Howarth's sister Gwendolyn lived in Hagerstown, Maryland for many years. She had provided Australian newspaper readers with the only sensible accounts of the Brent divorce. Cheers Nickm57 (talk) 23:43, 30 July 2013 (UTC)
- I assume you mean a copy of this image. The Wages of Sin itself does not appear to be available on-line, although a copy of its film trailer is posted YouTube (posted by Something Weird) but that does not include a courtroom scene. I did a preliminary check on films in the U.S. copyright record through 1969 which should list The Wages of Sin, since as a 1938 work it should have had its U.S. copyright renewed in 1966, but found no entry. The lack of an entry of the renewal of the copyright would be consistent with other films from Willis Kent Productions, which failed to renew nearly all of its film catalog. As such, I think you could post your copy of the courtroom scene with the "not renewed" license. Deanlaw (talk) 13:26, 31 July 2013 (UTC)
- It's here [3]. Do you mind looking at the licence attribution? Only ever put my own photos on Commons. ThanksNickm57 (talk) 00:10, 2 August 2013 (UTC)

George Fitzmaurice
Hi Deanlaw, at the George Fitzmaurice wiki commons, the man with his head in his hand is not George Fitzmaurice. That's William C. deMille. I made the change to Fitzmaurice's entry with one of the other photos which are correct. See http://commons.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:George_Fitzmaurice - So you may want to reassign this portrait to deMille. Great work from you. All My Best Koplimek (talk) 19:29, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for notice. Foolish error on my part, uploaded wrong photo on page after conducting review on George Fitzmaurice, who did not have portrait on article page. Submitted correction for file name, also uploaded copy of correct image from source document dated Dec. 23, 1923, published almost last day allowed currently under U.S. copyright law (which may have contributed to my original error, being excited at finding this image). Note to self: Keeping this message as reminder of need to double-check prior to upload, minimize chance of errors. Deanlaw (talk) 12:15, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
Here Comes the Bride 1919; photo correction
This file photo(https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/eb/Here_Comes_the_Bride_%281919%29_-_1.jpg) in the wiki commons of Here Comes the Bride is incorrect. The still is from a D. W. Griffith movie Romance of Happy Valley. The players are Kate Bruce, George Fawcett and Robert Harron. Koplimek (talk) 22:33, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
- Cause for this error was a source document (January 25, 1919 Moving Picture World) had two adjacent images from different films with captions reversed. I enjoyed watching the A Romance of Happy Valley (1919) film to verify this. Not sure how to avoid this type of error for most images from old magazines, prior to uploading I search Google images for matches but often for silent films there are none or few; in this case the incorrect caption resulted in no matches and resulting error in title. Correction to file submitted. Deanlaw (talk) 12:53, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
- I had to do similar searching in order to identify the still. George Fawcett and Kate Bruce appeared in many Griffith films. I almost thought Harron was Richard Barthelmess until examining the photo carefully. I narrowed it down to The Girl Who Stayed at Home (a city slicker movie), Scarlet Days (a Western), and Hearts of the World (takes place in France on the WW1 Battlefields. The still was of a rural setting and Romance of Happy Valley was the only Griffith film with all three actors that had a rural setting. Thanks much. Koplimek (talk) 18:42, 18 August 2014 (UTC)
Disraeli 1921 film
The photo uploaded to Commons is labeled incorrectly. The lady with George Arliss is his wife Florence, rather than Margaret Dale. Thanks Koplimek (talk) 18:42, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
- Checked with Disraeli (1921) at Arliss Archives; assumed this is correct so correction made. Deanlaw (talk) 18:55, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
Hi Dean: I removed the advert for Down Home (1920), the Leatrice Joy film. James is not represented in the advert as it is Leatrice and an unnamed performer much younger than Barrows would have been in 1920. Below is a portrait of Mr. Barrows: portrait ..and he appears in this clip, his last role, from The Sea Beast with John Barrymore and Dolores Costello: The Sea Beast (1926) Thanks Koplimek (talk) 19:19, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
- Rechecked the source for the image, page 10 of the Jan. 8, 1921 Duluth Herald, which lists James O. Barrows in the caption of the image. Although I disagree, since I cannot verify the accuracy of the identification I will not challenge your good faith edit. Thanks Deanlaw (talk) 20:18, 9 April 2015 (UTC)
Film articles with images
Hello! Thank you for all your help in removing image requests, from articles about films that have images. However, when updating talk pages, please consider just removing the parameter that is no longer needed.
Redundant parameters such as |small=no
, |needs-image=no
, |needs-infobox=no
, etc. place the article in Category:Film banners with redundant parameters, and don't actually do anything except take up unnecessary space. Thanks! Fortdj33 (talk) 20:40, 21 May 2015 (UTC)

Silent Film Censorship
Thanks for all your work/research into some of the incredible State Censorhip edits that were taken out on many silent films. They seem laughable almost petty when reading them today. And this before Will Hays and Joseph Breen. It must have been frustrating and maddening to directors to have their films cut to ribbons by crazy edits. Again thanks, I love this feature that you've added to the articles and I hope they are educational to reader viewing them today. Best! Koplimek (talk) 15:13, 15 September 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. I keep wondering how the audience experienced a film like a western with a gunfight with all the shooting scenes removed. Thanks very much for the addition of the photograph into the article.
