Sawara-ku (Sawara Ward, 早良区) is one of the seven wards of Fukuoka-shi (Fukuoka City, 福岡市), Kyushu, Japan.

Profiles
On April 1, 1972, Fukuoka-shi was designated as a government ordinance city of Japan.
Then, Fukuoka-shi was subdivided into the five wards of Hakata-ku, Chuo-ku, Higashi-ku, Minami-ku and the former Nishi-ku, and the area now called Sawara-ku was part of the former Nishi-ku (then largest of the five wards).
On May 10, 1982, the former Nishi-ku was subdivided into the three wards of Sawara-ku, Jonan-ku and Nishi-ku.
