Sugar Honey Iced Tea is the debut album by American rapper Rubii Red. It was released on August 17, 2018, through Empire Records. The album features numerous artists including Cardi B, Drake, Post Malone, Rihanna, Future, Kanye West, and The Weeknd.
Upon its release, Sugar Honey Iced Tea debuted atop the US Billboard 200, earning over 462,800 album-equivalent units in its first week, becoming the largest for a female rap album in history.. The album received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised Rubii Red's writing, vocals, flow, and instrumentals.
Commercial performance
Sugar Honey Iced Tea debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, earning 462,800 album-equivalent units in its first week of which 232,000 came from pure album sales, and became the largest week in overall units as well as in pure sales for a female rap album in history and a female R&B/hip-hop album in the 2010s.[3]
Upon the album's release, Red broke several records. The album became Red's third number-one release in the country after Bag Chasa (2016) and It Smells Like Broke (2017). Red also achieved her fourth top-ten release overall. It also sold 150,000 vinyl copies, earning the largest vinyl sales week for a female rap album in history.[3] The album remained atop the chart for 16 weeks non-consecutively, the second longest time an album was number one on the chart.[4] The album was certified 5x platinum in the US by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on February 18, 2019.[5]
The album's songs achieved 208,472,918 million streams in its first three days.[6] In its first week, Sugar Honey Iced Tea received a total of 477,582,357 million streams, marking the highest streaming week of her career, for a female rap album in history, for a female R&B/hip-hop album in the 2010s, and the 7th highest streaming week for an album in Spotify history.[7]
