Wikipedia and myself

Like most other Wiki editors, this is not my first account. My first account was where I completed minor edits, such as typo fixing and updating information on neglected articles. I started to get into editing soon enough; however I didn't like my username, so I created this account in early 2020.

I've been studying French for about 4 years, so I can be of use for translating French sources and articles.

My contributions to Wikipedia come mainly from my love of learning and history, but also my belief in free and accessible education. I place education very highly, and editing Wikipedia is one of my ways where I can contribute to free education and knowledge :)

My username

My name, Violetnights, is taken and messed around a bit with from one of my favorite quotes:

Violent delights have violent ends
And in their triumph die, like fire and powder,
Which as they kiss consume.
— William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet, act II, scene VI

I thought about making my username "Violentnights" off from this quote, however it sounded too grim. Hence came the username "Violetnights" from my fan of night-time.
