The Varuna rises at {{Coord|25|27|N|82|18|E|}} near [[Mau Aima]], flows east-to-southeast for some 128 km, and joins the Ganges at {{Coord|25|19|46|N|83|02|40|E|}} in [[Varanasi]], just downstream of [[Varanasi]]. The name Varanasi itself is interpreted to be derived from the name of the river Varuna. The river demarcates the north end of Varanasi - the city that lies between Varuna and Assi Rivers. |

The Varuna River is a minor tributary of the Ganges River in Uttar Pradesh, India. It merges into the Ganges near Sarai Mohana in the Varanasi district.[1] The 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) stretch between Sadar, Uttar Pradesh, and Sarai Mohana is prone to flooding.[2]
