The reggae/punk band "Hank Bear and the Ant Stalkers" was started in Queensburgh in 1978 whilst the band members were students at Queensburgh Boys High School. The members were Deremis (John A), Rat (Trevor R), Snake (Tony H), Bonce (Michael H) and Fonz (Robert M). In 1924, four residential townships in the area, Malvern, Escombe, Northdene and Moseley combined to form the town of Malvern. In 1952, to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's accesion to the throne, Malvern received municipality status and changed its name to Queensburgh.
