Thomas Kilgore was the founder of Cross Plains, Tennessee.
Thomas Kilgore was born in 1715 in present-day Virginia. In early 1779, Kilgore brought friends and family to an area by the Red River and made a small town called Kilgore Station (which eventually became Cross Plains).[1] Thomas Kilgore died at 108 in 1823 during a trip to Gallitan, Tennessee.
