::No, that's not how SYN works. SYN is a prohibition on using primary sources where they could cause error, not using them ''where they are to be the only likely ever reliable source''. As for promotional, that is just silly. I have no affiliation with Dicks nor with almost any other of the maps I've created. :::Agree with Magog the Ogre, tho nice points can be made the bottom line is that removing maps such as these will never be uniformly and non-selectively implemented across Wikipedia, nor should they be since it would be unencyclopedic and arguably censorship. Aside from suggesting this at multiple wiki-project pages for a ''consensus'' that we as a encyclopedia of balanced NPOV facts want to somehow exclude facts contributed graphically in map form any removal of some of these maps hits me as against the core principals.[[User:Marketdiamond|<font color="green"> Market St.⧏ ⧐ Diamond Way</font>]] 01:37, 28 September 2015 (UTC)

Galyan's Redirect

I think that the Galyan's redirect should be removed, and a separate article written discussing the history of Galyan's and the buyout by Dick's. I came to this page looking for information on Galyan's, not Dick's. 161.225.129.111 14:07, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, somebody has to decide to write it first. Lambertman 22:07, 13 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that Galyan's history needs its own page, especially referecing the outrage that Galyan's would sell to dicks in the Indy market considering that Galyan's had a loyal following and was already had a competitive pricepoint. But the owners saw a chance to sell. There is much documentation in the Indianapolis Star's history of articles and opinion sections.67.201.67.251 (talk) 17:43, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

When there is enough information on Galyan's to create a new article, the information can be moved out in WP:Summary style. At the moment there is not enough information, so I am removing the {{Split}} tag. SilkTork *YES! 11:16, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Charlotte South Park Store

Greets:

I'm not sure about the reference as the pictured Charlotte South Park store as being a former Galyan. It was built during the mall remodel a few years ago and was built from the ground up as being a Dick's. Maybe (hopefully the person who posted that picture will provide a reference. I'll leave it be though for the time being.) --Drmike (talk) 22:52, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Chick's with Dick's

Seems strange that nobody pointed out the change from Chick's Sporting Goods to Dick's Sporting Goods.108.23.147.17 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 22:03, 30 April 2012 (UTC).[reply]

Chick's is a subsidiary of Dick's, as noted. - SummerPhD (talk) 23:19, 30 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Map removed

@JzG: why was this map removed? I've placed these maps on many articles. They are informative, encyclopedic, and desired in the vast majority of cases. In fact, a user just asked me on my talk page to add the map, which he'd only removed because it was outdated. And yet you've taken it upon yourself to remove a map that was present for 5 years without any explanation or note on the talk page. Could you please explain your reasoning? Magog the Ogre (tc) 01:10, 27 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

aside from the fact that it's a novel synthesis from primary sources, the list of locations is a promotional activity we can safely leave to their marketing department. Guy (Help!) 11:08, 27 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
