Pabna Zilla School (Bengali: পাবনা জিলা স্কুল) is the oldest high school in the Pabna District of Bangladesh. It provides education from class Three to Ten. It has two shifts - morning and day. The morning shift starts at 7.30 am and the day shift starts at 12.00 noon.
Though it is a boy's school, it has male and female teachers. The school has one headmaster but it has separate groups of teachers for morning and day shift. The school has a playground, three buildings (the Administrative Building, the Academic Building, and the Science Building), one hall room, a hostel and a mosque. It has a computer laboratory and four individual laboratories for physics, chemistry, biology and agriculture.
History
Pabna Zilla School was established as an Anglo-Vernacular[1] type of school between 1836-1840.[2][3] The founder of the school was Babu Digombor Saha[4] and he was assisted by Babu RadhaGobinda Mitra. Babu Ramchandra Nandi was the headmaster during the period 1844-1853. In 1 Nov, 1853 the school became a government Public school (government funded)[5] and was named Pabna Zilla School. In 1966-1967 the number of students were 717.[6]

Pabna Zilla School is located in the center of Pabna at A. Hamid Road. at 24°00′08″N 89°14′0″E / 24.00222°N 89.23333°E.
Admission
Admission is arranged in class Three, Six and eight once a year. Admission into the school is competitive. After an initial screening, more than 3000 applicants are offered to appear at an admission test for 240 positions. Coaching centers have been established in Pabna for the admission test.
