Y Gwyll (English: The Dusk) or known in English by the name Hinterland, is a police detective series broadcast on S4C in Welsh and in English on BBC One Wales. The show was filmed in both Welsh and English. The Welsh version was broadcast on S4C in October 2013, with the English version being broadcast on BBC One Wales in January 2014 and BBC Four later in 2014.[1] The programme was mainly filmed in Aberystwyth and the surrounding Ceredigion region on the west coast of Wales. The channel which produced The Killing, Danmarks Radio has already acquired the rights to broadcast the show in Denmark.[2]
The main character, DCI Tom Mathias, is played by Welsh actor Richard Harrington.[3]
The Times gave the show a rating of four stars out of five.[4]

Broadcasts
Wales The series premiered in Welsh on S4C on 29 October 2013.- Wales The English-language version premiered on BBC One Wales on 4 January 2014.
United Kingdom The United Kingdom-wide broadcast has been confirmed for BBC Four, but a date has not yet been announced.
Denmark Danmarks Radio has acquired the rights to broadcast the show in English, but dates have not been confirmed.
