List of people who have lit the Olympic Cauldron

This is to let you know that I reversed your edit of List of people who have lit the Olympic Cauldron to put back in all four official lighters from Vancouver. As I explained on its talk page (backed by the article on the opening ceremony as well as succession boxes in the articles on Steve Nash, Nancy Greene, Catriona Le May Doan, 2006 lighter Stefania Belmondo, and yes, even Wayne Gretzky), BOTH indoor AND outdoor cauldrons are "official" because IOC protocol requires the lighting to be witnessed BOTH inside AND outside the stadium--literally impossible in an indoor stadium--thus VANOC provided two cauldrons to meet the protocol's intent. My edit does reflect (as per both your own reference and the fact that Le May Doan re-lit the indoor cauldron at the closing ceremony) that only the outdoor cauldron remained lit throughout the Games.

I'm sure it's a potential matter of dispute, and will remain so even after the IOC lists the lighters on its official Vancouver page (the reference used by the article for all previous Olympics, thus IMO the final decision-maker). However, since it was your entry (and a few others who supported you) vs. usage in multiple other articles, and there is NO official Wikipedia consensus at present, I deemed it best to reverse it myself after posting to the talk page, per WP:BOLD and WP:BRD. (Edit: I used "reverse" rather than "revert" because I edited past text substantially.) If you still think only Gretzky should be counted, we can discuss it further. --RBBrittain (talk) 15:31, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
