In November 2024, Spasojević celebrated thirty years in fashion industry with spectacular fashion show. The moment Spasojević's fashion show began, all eyes were on the catwalk, which was more than just a stage - it was a story in space, a prelude where elegance, nature and fashion came together. Models walked the runway, but before they set foot on it, the sight they and all the guests found was almost fairytale-like: the entire path was covered with a wealth of autumn leaves. The golden, red and orange hues that adorned the fallen leaves evoked the warmth of autumn, while the models walked as if through nature's golden carpet, leaving their mark in this natural symphony of colors with each step. The collection was quite diverse, but all the pieces had a common goal - to represent the power of feminine and masculine style at its best. Bata Spasojević presented a series of long, elegant dresses that exuded glamor and refinement. The dresses ranged from classic, minimalist models to those subtly decorated with details, such as leather inserts, which gave them a sharp and modern accent. Leather parts were present at the waist and even in the form of decorative details on the hems of the dresses, which created a striking contrast to the sophisticated fabrics that dominated the overall look. Spasojevic, was known for combining haute couture with subversive, alternative elements. Plaid materials, recognizable for the British punk style, were used on the skirts, and were combined with leather details and metal accents, giving the collection a dynamic, almost "grunge" look. This "punk" vibe, however, was not only an inspiration from British fashion, but also a reflection of the style of the Balkans, especially through characters like singer Sladjana Milošević, who in her fashion choices and behavior on stage often had a similar attitude towards style - a fusion of contrasts, strict cuts and a free, almost anarchic spirit. Sladjana Milošević, just like Vivienne Westwood, was known for challenging normative boundaries with her fashion choices and redefining the concept of aesthetics in public appearances, bringing a combination of strength and freedom in every issue. In this context, Bata Spasojević connected perfectly with these references, creating a collection that was both sophisticated and exciting in its immediate expression.<ref>[https://ona.telegraf.rs/moda-i-lepota/4003494-bata-spasojevic-jos-jednom-dokazao-da-je-majstor-svog-zanata-omaz-pank-divama-i-velikim-umetnicima "Bata Spasojević još jednom dokazao da je majstor svog zanata"]. Bata Spasojević (Belgrade, 12 March 1971) is a Serbian fashion designer. He designs both men's and women's clothing.[1]
Background
[edit]Slobodan "Bata" Spasojević was born in Belgrade, on 12 March 1971. After he finished secondary technical school, he studied costume design at the Belgrade's Faculty of Applied Arts under the mentorship of professor Ljiljana Žegarac - Delja. He graduated in 1999, and in the same year he presented his first collection "New Spice" at the Serbia Fashion Week. After the graduation he started to work for "Centrotextil" AD, under the brand of "Cinemoda."[2] His work has been displayed at the Master Centre in Novi Sad.[3] He is a recipient of the best male collection at the Serbia Fashion Award.[4]
In 2011, his Matrix-like futuristic garments (trench coats and pants with an excess of zippers) were on display at the Miami Beach International Fashion Week. According to Sun-Sentinel reporter Joanie Cox, the garments were a little bit too futuristic for the men of today.[5] He opened the 34th Belgrade Fashion Week in late March 2014.[6]
In February 2016, his work was displayed at the DC Fashion Week, held in Washington DC.[7]
In September 2016, "Elucid Magazine" showed his collection "Body and Soul" at the "World Fashion Parade" on Broadway.[8]
