Arjun,[1] also known as Har Yug Mein Aayega Ek - Arjun, is an Indian Hindi-language action crime TV series which aired on Star Plus from 11 August 2012 through 23 February 2014 on Saturday and Sunday evenings. It is the fifth television series of 4 Lions Films.

Overview

Season 1

This series is about a rebellious cop, Arjun Rawte. He is transferred to the Emergency Task Force (ETF), which solves cases linked to high-profile individuals. Team ETF contains Sameer Rathore (chief), Arjun Suryakant Rawte (2nd in command), Riya Mukherjee, Shreekant Sen (Shree) and Chandrakant Patil (Chotu).The show deals with crimes such as human trafficking, organ trade, kidnapping murder, and honor killing. ACP Arjun Suryakant Rawte rises from being 2nd in Command to lead ETF.

Arjun lost his wife, Roshni and has been behind Sikandar, who killed his wife from the last two years and has vowed to never let anyone break the walls of his heart until he meets Riya, the only girl that made him smile. After continuously belittling her and telling her to go back to the research desk as a statistical analyst, he realises her true potential when she swallows a virus to save the entire city. She declares her love for him and is declared dead.

6 months later:-

There has been three new recruits who joined in the meanwhile. Ayesha Kapoor, the encounter specialist who has a special bond with Sameer. Liza D'Cruz, forensic expert who fights with Shree a lot and Sakshi Anand, a criminal journalist who has a crush on Arjun. Arjun and Sameer's relationship was bad after Roshni's death as Sameer never believed in the existence of Sikandar but it turned worse after Riya's death. On Riya's 6 month death anniversary, Shree and Chotu sees Arjun doing a puja for Riya in the temple especially when he doesn't believe in God and they change their perception about him.

Soon a simple yet complicated case arrives at the ETF office. A 67 year old woman reports that her grandson has died due to the doctors fault and it is coincidentally the same hospital where Riya was taken to. After investigating the case, the team doesn't think anything is wrong until another case is reported and a junior doctor speaks against the doctors with the team and so Ayesha and Sameer go as an undercover couple to research. They soon investigate and get to know that a retired scientist was trying his medicines which were rejected on people with the help of his grandson who was a junior assistant in the hospital. They soon find that Riya is still alive and she was injected with the antidote so that her body can handle other medicines and was in a coma since last 6 months. The scientist is arrested and Riya has been given proper care while the girls still didn't know about her existence.

1 month later:-

Everything is going smoothly at the ETF office as the 4 men have hope that their officer will soon be back to office. One day Sakshi is given an assignment to fill out for her colleague's column in the newspaper and on doing so she reaches the record room where she finds the file of the virus and she wants to write an article on it but Arjun warns her to never touch that topic again and humiliates her. Everyone is left shocked but Sameer knew that none of them wants Riya's name to be in the news as she did what she had to, her duty. After this incident they get another case and Riya is awoke after they solve the case and goes to meet her. She is told to rest and join the office after 2 weeks. Even though Arjun was glad that she was alright, he didn't understand his feelings and decided to stay away from Riya because he didn't want to cheat on his wife.

After 2 weeks Riya is back to office and all the girls are shocked to see her receive so much love and care from the 3 men while Arjun is same as he was before, rude and unexpressive. While Riya is thinking that she has finally got another chance to express her love for the man she loves, she doesn't understand why Arjun is still so cold with her and is running away from her. After returning from a case, Arjun and Riya are stuck in the storm and are forced to stay at a lodge where they can't get entry until they are married so Riya makes a story and before Arjun could come after parking the car, she flees to their room in fear. Arjun shouts at her for trying to be his wife and tells her that he will do things with her that a married couple does. They almost kiss when Arjun humiliates her and says that how she forgot her self respect and was going to let him get intimate with her. Disheartened and angry at his ever rude behaviour, Riya decides to never be in the way of Arjun again as she is tired of his accusations.

After returning from the trip, Arjun and Riya's relationship has turned extremely sour as both have refused to indulge in any talks with each other. Seeing the tension between them, Sakshi seizes the opportunity to impress Arjun but he shuts her off and tells her to stop being like Riya. Hearing this, Sakshi realises that there is something going on between both of them and decides to take a step back but be always there for him as a friend. Meanwhile Arjun is continuously having visions of Roshni's spirit visiting him and telling him to not let go of Riya but he is torn between right and wrong, revenge and love, heart and mind, body and soul.

Critical reception

DNA India said that it has good action scenes, but Malhotra was "a little stiff".[5]
