Kharp (‹See Tfd›Russian: Харп) is an urban locality (an urban-type settlement) in Priuralsky District of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Russia, located on the bank of the Sob River near the Polar Urals. Population: 6,413 (2010 Census);[1] 7,278 (2002 Census);[4] 5,381 (1989 Soviet census).[5]

The name of the settlement, Kharp, is Nenets for aurora.

Kharp is the location of penal colonies IK-18 Polar Owl and IK-3 Polar Wolf [ru]. The most known prisoner in the latter penal colony is the dissident Aleksei Navalny.[6]
