Jarvis Michael Killarney Harrington Jr. (born June 20th, 2006) is a Canadian basketball player who currently plays for the Illawarra Hawks. Considered to one be the best draft prospects of his generation while garnering comparisons to Kevin Durant, Harrington would venture into the NBL following his graduation from the well-known Montverde Academy.

Early life

Jarvis Michael Killarney Harrington Jr. was born in Toronto, Canada, on June 20th, 2006. His father, Jarvis Sr. is a businessman and former canadian football player, who is of Jamaican and Irish descent while his mother, Theresa, is a homemaker and is of Bajan ancestry. He has an older brother, Tristan and two younger sisters, Maia and Evelyn.

Harrington would first become interested in a pursuit of basketball after him and his family would move to Houston, Texas while he was in the fourth grade. He would play with several youth teams before he would begin his high school career at the Jones Futures Academy in Houston.

High school career

Harrington grew up playing both football and basketball but he ultimately decided to make the complete switch to basketball in his freshman year of high school. Harrington originally had aspired to be a architect before being pressured to use his basketball potential. He would attend the Jones Futures Academy in Houston for his first three years of high school.

During his junior year at Jones, he would average 19.6 points, 9.2 rebounds and 4 assists and three steals a game, putting him on recruiting radars across the counting. Following this, he would transfer to Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida for his senior year. He breakout and would average 24.6 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists a game after growing to 6 foot 10 and 225 pounds over the course of his last two years in high school.

Recruiting

Harrington was a consensus five-star recruit and was the top player in the 2024 class, according to major recruiting services, not only ranked the best in Florida, but the best recruit, regardless of class. On August 3rd, 2023, Harrington would commit to play for the Texas Longhorns and Rodney Terry, citing a bond with the coach and a desire to stay closer to home and following in the footsteps of his favorite player, Kevin Durant. He would remain committed through National Signing Day. However in June of 2024, Harrington would request a release from his National Letter of Intent, reopening his recruitment.

Shorty after Harrington's release of his NLI, he would announce that he would be forgoing a career playing college basketball and would instead pursue a career overseas, signing a one-year deal with the Illawarra Hawks, of the National Basketball League.
