Hello Bbb23,

How exactly would you know whether or not I am Shāntián Tàiláng? As I told Fish bowl previously, I've only had this phone for the past two months, and nobody's ever used it to log into any accounts. (My greatest apologies for [apparently] pestering Fish bowl; I just wanted to apologize, not get this IP blocked.) And why revert so many of this IP's edits that have absolutely nothing to do with Fish bowl's talk page? It makes no sense to me. 72.82.40.251 (talk) 23:32, 13 October 2023 (UTC)

Decline reason:

The basis of the block is described at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Shāntián Tàiláng as well as the archive linked to on that page. @331dot and Bbb23: how in blazes can I convince you of the truth--namely, that I'm NOT Shāntián Tàiláng? Because I'm not entirely sure how you catch actual socks, but you clearly have a false positive in my case! Per WP:CHECKUSER "On some Wikimedia projects, an editor's IP addresses may be checked upon their request, typically to prove innocence against a sockpuppet allegation. Such checks are not allowed on the English Wikipedia and such requests will not be granted." That "past behavior" was over a year ago, and I felt obliged to apologize for it on Fish bowl's talkpage, since Shāntián Tàiláng did warn me not to do it again.
Yes, I do believe he was the IP user who wrote the original message last year, as Floquenbeam scolded him about ("That was you, wasn't it?") on his talkpage. However, as I explained recently, I was the one who reverted Fish bowl's reversion of that post, since I didn't know anything about Shāntián Tàiláng's behavior (on any Wikimedia projects) at the time. If you look closely at that IP's contributions, the first post was made as a mobile edit, while my reversion was made (as I recall) on a desktop computer.
(And ironically enough, I discovered 2-3 days ago that Shāntián Tàiláng was once unlucky enough to share an IP address (or was it a range?) with another blocked sockpuppeteer, Til Eulenspiegel, whose crimes were far worse than Shāntián Tàiláng's.
