Help please

There is a message on my talk page which I don't understand. I am concerned that my account has been hacked. I wanted to check the page history, but I can't because the page has been deleted.
Can you help me please? Pdfpdf (talk) 06:52, 3 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Herbert C. Reed has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Notability not established with multiple substantive sources

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Your speedy deletions

Hello, Paul. Thank you for your work with speedy deletions, but I have noticed and that you seem to have unfortunately deleted pages without checking the page history first. As it says at WP:CSD, "A page is eligible for speedy deletion only if all of its history is also eligible." Recent examples I have seen are Silk Route (A1) and Deadlink (G1). Both were valid redirects that were overwritten by someone else, which led to it being tagged and deleted. Instead of deleting them, the pages should have been reverted to their redirects.

Moreover, even if there was no valid history at Silk Route, it was not a valid A1, as [i]f any information in the title or on the page, including links, allows an editor, possibly with the aid of a web search, to find further information on the subject in an attempt to expand or edit it, A1 is not appropriate. Searching for the name with "Boondein" (in the article's contents) would have shown that it is an album's name.

Another example of a bad speedy deletion that comes to mind is Aliyaa, which you deleted for not showing importance/significance. As the article stated before it was deleted, it was on the Michelin Guide, which is one of the best claims to significance there is for a restaurant – I am baffled as to why it was deleted.

I am pointing these out not because I want to embarrass you, but in hopes that you can be more careful. The community has entrusted us with these tools, so we should use them with caution. I will be restoring these pages; please let me know if you have any questions. Sdrqaz (talk) 21:27, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Good call and nice catch, I've never claimed to operate without making mistakes. Do you have suggestions or guidance on these particluar articles at this point? It looks like those articles have been restored.--Paul McDonald (talk) 21:45, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I've restored them, yes. Aliyaa is by no means perfect, so could use some help – I've spent some time making it a bit more presentable, but more work is needed there. Not much else can be done for the others, thank you . Sdrqaz (talk) 22:08, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
