Awards and prizes
The filter cartridge for table water using the patented Mg2+ technology received the National Award for Innovation for Upper Austria in 2011.[3] The technology developed by BWT enriches the tap water with magnesium during the filtration process while removing any extraneous elements e.g. calcium, heavy metals and taste-inhibiting substances (e.g. chlorine).
In 2011, the Rondomat Duo S series of large water softeners (large water softeners are installed in buildings, commercial premises and industrial plants to prevent limescale deposits and the associated damage to the water pipe network and any appliances and systems connected to it) won the Austrian national design prize[4] in the Capital Goods category awarded by the Federal Ministry of the Economy Family and Youth (German: Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft, Familie und Jugend).
BWT’s building technology products for private households have been winners of the Plus X Award on two occasions. In 2012, the AQA perla[5] water softening system was voted 'Best Product of the Year 2013', and the E1 Single Lever filter[6] (a drinking water filter that prevents foreign particles and contaminants from entering the domestic system through the pipe network and damaging the installations) received the same accolade in 2013.
In 2014, the 'black penguin' BWT table water filter won the Red Dot Design Award.
Sponsorship
BWT has a wide range of sponsorship deals with various motorsport teams, such as Mücke Motorsport in DTM, Forze Hydrogen Electric Racing, a student racing team from the Delft University of Technology, making race cars on hydrogen, ADAC-GT Masters and Formula 4 and Walter Lechner Racing in the high profile Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and Porsche Supercup.
Most notably, they lent their pink corporate colours to the Racing Point F1 Team (previously Racing Point Force India and Force India Formula One) from 2017 till the end of 2020 as title sponsors up until the team rebranded as Aston Martin Cognizant moving forward in the 2021 season.[7][8] The sponsorship was continued with the new Aston Martin team for 2021, with BWT taking the role of a Global Partner. The livery featured subtle BWT brand accents, as well as BWT brand logos.[9]
In 2021, Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team driver, Sebastian Vettel, signed-on to become a BWT Ambassador. The personal sponsorship included full BWT branding and colours for the drivers helmet.
In 2022, Alpine Formula One Team signed a sponsorship contract to make BWT their title sponsor.
