I saw your name at Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/List of participants and I wonder if you would like to copyedit this article. It is current at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates. Thanks for your attention. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 00:52, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What an interesting article! I will try to have a look at it over the few days, but please also put this on the request page of the Guild of Copy Editors, which can be found here, in case someone else has more time and can do it before I can. Thanks. -- S Masters (talk) 05:35, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much; I added the request (first one for March). User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 05:42, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks for your prompt and detailed response. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 18:48, 12 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Themes for The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

Copy edit completed for TaerkastUA. No major issues. You can see the changes here.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. This will help a lot in the article.--The Taerkasten (talk) 11:14, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No problems. Glad I could help. :-) -- S Masters (talk) 11:16, 13 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Copy Edit

Thanks dear SMasters for your continuous copy-editing in the article Dhaka Residential Model College. After your copy edit in March 6, I've nominated the article for WP:GA but it failed to be a good article due to some reasons. The reviewer suggested to include more information in some sections, remove information from some sections and so on. But your copy-edit was highly praised. Accordingly I have been editing the article to nominate it again. It will take some days for me to finish the editing. After that the article will need a copy-edit. It will be really great if you come forward. -- Tanweer (talk) 06:17, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, please let me know once you have finished all your changes. I will then do a once-over with the article for you. Cheers and good luck with it. -- S Masters (talk) 07:23, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, I'll just leave a message in your talk page once I've finished the editing. Thank you. -- Tanweer (talk) 07:27, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No problems. I suggest another WP:PR before a WP:GAN. -- S Masters (talk) 07:40, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ya, me too. It has been also suggested by the reviewer. So, after your copy-edit I'll put the article for getting peer review. -- Tanweer (talk) 11:14, 16 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Dear SMasters, I have finished the editing. Now you can start copy-edit. It has been suggested in the WP:GAN review that linking words more than once should be avoided. So please don't link a word more than once. Thank you. Tanweer (talk) 15:27, 17 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK I'll do this within a day or so. And yes, the reviewer is correct. Linking should only occur on the first mention. -- S Masters (talk) 08:55, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have completed the second full copy edit. Additional comments can be found on the article's talk page. Good luck with the WP:PR and let me know if you need any more help. Cheers. -- S Masters (talk) 09:43, 19 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removed speedy from Gosure

Hi SMasters. Thank you for your work on patrolling pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I just wanted to inform you that I declined to delete Gosure, a page that you tagged for speedy deletion under criterion A2 because of the following concern: the page is english, or does not exist on another Wikimedia project Please review the criteria for speedy deletion and especially what is considered Non-criteria. In future you should rather tag such pages for proposed deletion or start an appropriate deletion discussion. Regards Kingpin13 (talk) 11:38, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Kingpin for letting me know. Sorry about that as I'm new to any proposed deletion. I will now know how to tag them in future. Also, can you tell me what you think about the article - Dr. Kamal? At the very least the article name should be his full name, and Dr. should not be there. What should be done in this case? In addition, the article is full of question marks! :-o Thanks! :-) -- S Masters (talk) 11:52, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've moved it to Kamal (politician), which is more appropriate. I don't know his full name however. and yes the article needs cleaning up, and a lot more information (the question marks are not good. The way to fix it is to add the relevant information, add cites, clean up etc. If you're willing to do this, go ahead, it'd be very helpful :D. Otherwise, just wait for someone to come across it from all the maintenance tags. - Kingpin13 (talk) 12:02, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately, I know nothing about him. I'm going through copyedit tagged articles as part of my work at WP:GOCE when I came across it. Thanks for moving it but I don't think I can do any more to help that article at this stage. -- S Masters (talk) 12:06, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Okay then, that's fine :). - Kingpin13 (talk) 12:12, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

About peer review

Hi SMasters, I've read the whole article and found your authentic copy-edit. Thanks a lot for that. However, I've listed the article at WP:PR just after you had finished the editing. I am afraid, it will take a long time to get a peer review, because I am going to attend my high school diploma exam from the next month. I want the article to be a GA within this month. But I don't see any probability that the article will receive a peer review sometime within this month, there are a number of article at the WP:PR waiting to get a peer review. Now, should I request anyone (who is expert or have experience) to do the review for the article, or just wait until it gets a review? If I've to request anyone, who's that? I don't know anyone who's interested in this task. -- Tanweer (talk) 16:35, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Because I have worked closely on this article twice, I am not allowed to do a PR according to the rules. Why don't you ask people who have done PRs for this in the past. I'm sure they would not mind doing it again. Oh, by the way, good luck with your exams! :-) -- S Masters (talk) 16:50, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ya, I understand that you can't do the PR. However I've asked the person who did the PR for the article in the past and he has consented to do that. :-) But he is so busy with PR of other articles that it will not be possible for him to do that until next week. Anyways, thanks for your wish. -- Tanweer (talk) 06:59, 21 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your edits to the Kingdom Magazine page. I'm sure the Arnold Palmer organization appreciates it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Acommons (talkcontribs) 14:25, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Copyedit request

Better Days (webcomic) is a current GAN. Could you take a look at it and see if any copyediting needs to be done? (Sugar Bear (talk) 21:10, 24 March 2010 (UTC))[reply]

I will try to do this over the next few days. You should also put your request at WP:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors/Requests in case another editor can do it before me. Cheers. -- S Masters (talk) 02:08, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Done Copy edit completed. No issues at all. The article is well written and referenced. Only minor work required on my end. Well done and good luck with the GAN. -- S Masters (talk) 07:29, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Oops. Glad it's fixed now. :-) -- S Masters (talk) 02:25, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

re: Fairy Flag

Thanks for that. Yeah the reviewer (User:Jezhotwells) said that the article still needed improvements, and all that. Could you go over it?--Brianann MacAmhlaidh (talk) 09:04, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK I'll try and do this tomorrow. -- S Masters (talk) 09:56, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for all the editing. How do you think the fictitious parts of an article should appear? Should they be in the past tense, or present tense? If everything stays in the past tense, I think it is easier to read. But if the 'story' part is in the present, it is easier to see where the story ends, and where commentary on the fiction begins. So I'm not sure which way to do it.--Brianann MacAmhlaidh (talk) 10:47, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is about presenting facts, not fiction. Personally, I believe it needs to be in the past tense. Even the fiction was written in the past, so we should present it as such. -- S Masters (talk) 16:30, 28 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again for the copy-edit.--Brianann MacAmhlaidh (talk) 04:55, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No problems. Glad I could help. Plus I enjoyed learning all about the Fairy Flag! :-) -- S Masters (talk) 09:17, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very mcuh for copy editing the article. It has made the GA grade mainly because of your editng.--Nvvchar (talk) 13:47, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations!!! I am so happy for you! I'm glad that a lot of good work on your part has now been rewarded. Well done. :-) -- S Masters (talk) 15:41, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

Hi, once again thanks for the copyedit on the themes. I was wondering, whenever you have the time, if you would mind giving the whole article a look-over? It's not going anywhere soon, though, so you don't have to rush it, so please only do it when you have time. I don't want to seem like I'm rushing you or anything. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, --The Taerkasten (talk) 16:29, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I will try to have a look at it over the next few days. -- S Masters (talk) 17:02, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Better Days (webcomic). We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Better Days (webcomic) (2nd nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:05, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

hi sir/madam,

i understood that my recent added link under "External Link" has been removed, i hope the link may be reconsider as the site is purely sharing rock climbing venue details in Malaysia,Ipoh one of the regions. it's non commercial site that benefits everyone. i hope you may reconsider about it.

many thanks.

best regards 60.54.124.118 (talk) 13:54, 30 March 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.54.124.118 (talk) 13:52, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for writing, and for your contribution to Wikipedia. Your link was deleted in line with Wikipedia's official policy on external links. The section on links normally to be avoided states that: "Except for a link to an official page of the article's subject, one should avoid: 11. Links to blogs, personal web pages and most fansites, except those written by a recognized authority." Your link was removed following this rule. In addition, your link is not even Ipoh specific. When I just checked, the two posts on the front page are about another city. In any case, it does not add anything new to the article on Ipoh that is not already there. If you wish to contribute to Wikipedia, you are encouraged to create an account, and contribute to the article directly. For example, it is better for you to add to a section on rock climbing in Ipoh. I hope this clarifies why your link was removed. -- S Masters (talk) 20:11, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
hi, thanks for kind explainations, however the site contains the specific rock climbing details at Ipoh at http://www.vertical-adventure.com/ipoh---the-lost-world-of-tambun.html, it will benefits people that looking for outdoor sports in Ipoh. would you mind to have this link added?

best regards 60.50.98.88 (talk) 03:45, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, I do not make the rules. I only help enforce them. The rules on external links are very clear. Only official links are allowed. Even if I leave your link there, other editors will remove it. If we allow one link to be there, then every other sports group, etc. will insist on their links being allowed. Can you imagine how long the external links section will be? And if this is allowed on the article on Ipoh, then every other city will do the same. Can you imagine the activities available in New York City? Look at its external links section. They are all official sources and city specific (they deal directly with the city itself, not things that happen in the city). Wikipedia is not a directory. For that, there are many other listings/directories on the internet where you can list your site. -- S Masters (talk) 05:44, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
i think you have your point, i agreed with that. many thanks. 60.54.124.118 (talk) 06:39, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

sentence accuracy

Dear SMasters, I have been still developing DRMC as per the recommendations of peer review. By the way, I have to add the information in the Administration section that, "Since inception, the school most of the time have had a principal from the army." I'm not sure about the accuracy of the sentence and also unsure whether it meets the professional English level. So, could you help me ion this regard? -- Tanweer (talk) 14:03, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What does "most of the time" mean? How many Principals? Let me know the years, if you know. The more info I have, the better I can structure the sentence. -- S Masters (talk) 14:23, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Actually I don't know the number of principals, years. I just know that except two or three times, the school has always got principals from the army. -- Tanweer (talk) 08:23, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I would write this as: Since its inception, the school's Principal has almost always been appointed from the army. -- S Masters (talk) 09:07, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That's alright. Thanks for your assistance. -- Tanweer (talk) 08:50, 2 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello SMasters, Stafford here creator of NetBoy...

Thanks for the warm welcome to Wiki. I had a friend say the other day 'where is all the NetBoy webcomic history on Wiki?' So I went... Zoinks, I'm kinda obscure, so I must start this journey! What recommendations do you have for me to proceed? I have a nice chuck of articles to reference and i guess, it looks like my NetBoy was one of the starts of the webcomic movement. I really want to do this correctly and not step on any cartoonists toes. Can you help or really do I just jump in and learn from my mistakes? Oh, there are some cookies around here for you, I'm sure. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Shuywiki (talkcontribs) 04:58, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it's not recommended for you to start an article about yourself or something that you created. There are many articles in Wikipedia on webcomics. I just helped copy edit one recently. Check out Category:Webcomics. I suggest you talk to one of the editors who are working on any of those articles. They will be more than happy to start it for you, and then you can help contribute and add to the article from there. Once that process starts, you can be bold and charge away. Hope that helps. :-) -- S Masters (talk) 05:11, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

yep all good for me. I agree about starting a page on myself, Now I'm getting the confident hang of wiki talk and will take your direction to communite with the editors first and get a dialog and trust, before one jumps in with bold updates. Now I need to learn how to send you wiki-cookies. Shuywiki (talk) 05:18, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Shuywiki (talk) 05:25, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

go gosh, now, I'm getting a brainstorm for a comic series on our wiki world... wow, great community :D Shuywiki (talk) 05:28, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the cookie :-) You may also want to join Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics. -- S Masters (talk) 05:32, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Aaahhh... AWESOMENESS. Ok, time to take a step back (and sleep zzzz)... this has all been more fun then I ever would have expected. I need get the game of a solid wiki participant by taking your perfect advice. Shuywiki (talk) 06:09, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

hello, again. After meditating and getting the brain more up-to-wiki-speed, I would like to offer you the first opportunity, by providing URLs for factually accurate and verifiable news articles. I was thinking, when you have the time, could you find yourself doing a look over and seeing what we could do to give more advice (or even doing write ups) to expand the netboy page and perhaps, that Stafford Huyler page? If you are unavailable, which I completely understand, the next choice is the Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics group. :) Shuywiki (talk) 21:20, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good news, I went ahead and put the URL's in the discussion for Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics. Feel free to remove this talk post. I'm satisfied to go from here. Shuywiki (talk) 03:46, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, good luck with that. Let me know if you need any other help. I leave all discussions as they are and they get archived later. Have a nice weekend! :-) -- S Masters (talk) 03:59, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I see your strength as a editor and the desire to contribute to articles that may be award winning. I felt it was poor judgement to ask someone of your wiki-stature and to not make that available to all. But here are the links, if you are willing to go for it.

Content contributors for NetBoy, Stafford Huyler are wanted.

There are two factually accurate and verifiable news articles currently not referenced on those pages.

First is People Magazine from March 13th 1995 Vol 43 No 10 Byting the Hand

Second is The Milwaukee Journal / via the New York Times - Jan 17, 1995 Internet shows a sense of humor

This represent Webcomics historical facts and may be deemed important as NetBoy is still updated to this day.

You are great User:SMasters. Still getting my wiki-legs. Shuywiki (talk) 04:04, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Shuywiki (talk) 04:35, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's not a problem at all. Give it a few days to see what the response is from Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics. Currently, I'm working mainly in the area of copy editing. I'm not an expert in comics and don't have a lot of time to add content to articles. So, I might not be the best person to help you with expanding the article. Let's see what happens in a few days. If no other editors comes on board, I'll see if I can help you verify the references. Cheers. -- S Masters (talk) 04:48, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Smoking Rockets, Commander!", that's great. Cheers -- Shuywiki (talk) 04:51, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

just wanted to drop you a hello... how was that Ren & Stimpy edit? those cartoons are crazy. No one has yet to come out of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics group and it looks like I have steped over WP:COI and WP:AUTO. ugh. What do you recommend I do from here to make the boo-boo better? :) Shuywiki (talk) 09:08, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hiya, yes the edit for the makers of Ren & Stimpy was really fun! :-) One of the more enjoyable articles I've edited. I think it's important for you to find more reliable external references and add them to the article. Without at least 4 or more of these, the article is in danger of being deleted. I was a bit upset today as one of the webcomics articles that I helped to copy edit was just deleted. What a waste of my time! See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Better Days (webcomic) (2nd nomination). I think you should read that to see the discussion, as you need to avoid falling into the same trap. If you have enough good references I'll try to take a look at it over the weekend. Cheers. -- S Masters (talk) 09:48, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

so sorry to hear that work went to naught. :( on our front yes there are more reliable articles. :) we'll gather them and chat on the weekend. - Tally-ho Shuywiki (talk) 10:05, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you

Thank you for your warm welcome to Wikipedia Georgenicholas3070 (talk) 06:48, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Question

Hello. I created a page called Max Factor Family Museum. I'm new... I don't want to step on anyone's toes. I have edited the content quite a few times. It seems that it is in a USER mode. I would like to have the information as a part of the regular WIKIPEDIA encyclopedia...please Would you be able to guide me along? Or it as simple as placing the text in a new WIKI box without the USER mode?

"Thank you" for your time and thought. Steven : ) MaxFactorFamilyMuseum —Preceding unsigned comment added by MaxFactorFamilyMuseum (talkcontribs) 01:06, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, your user name is the same as the name of your article, and it is not recommended for you to start any article about yourself due to a conflict of interest (see: WP:COI and WP:AUTOBIO). However, once an article has started, you are allowed to help correct any information present provided that the facts are supported by references from external sources. The problem that you will face is that I (and therefore, other editors) can't find any references to "Max Factor Family Museum" in Google; nothing shows up in search or in news. As such, it will not be possible to verify the existence of such as museum. The official website is under construction, and this could be seen as an attempt to have a Wikipedia entry in order to drive traffic to the site when it is ready. Can you show me any external references to the existence of such a museum? -- S Masters (talk) 03:03, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
