Neutral tone?

[edit]

This page reads like Cohen's CV. 87.112.151.26 (talk) 14:52, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, this needs more objective editing. Much talk of "boy wonder" and "wunderkind" - he has been called a lot of other things too, perhaps these should be included as well to give more balance? SkinheadEscapes (talk) 07:41, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Such as? As this a BLP anything added needs properly sourcing. Jamesinderbyshire (talk) 14:03, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This reads like Mr. Cohen's mother wrote it. A little neutrality please? Markhh (talk) 16:22, 11 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Well if you are talking about the "boy wonder" and "wunderkind" sentences, they are both sourced from quality newspaper articles. I don't really see there's anything wrong with including them as such and the overall tone seems fairly matter-of-fact. If there is critical material in reliable sources, we can include that too. Jamesinderbyshire (talk) 11:13, 12 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Critical material in reliable sources duly included. Andysurtees (talk) 02:56, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Danny Cohen (television executive)Danny Cohen – The TV exec seems to be the primary topic? Andysmith248 (talk) 11:58, 21 March 2019 (UTC)--Relisting. – Ammarpad (talk) 16:11, 29 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"President of Access Entertainment" section

[edit]

Hello. I would like to make the following suggestions to update the "President of Access Entertainment" section:

  • In the first sentence, it is inaccurate and reductive to refer to "industrialist Len Blavatnik." Instead, please change to "businessman and philanthropist Len Blavatnik" or simply "Len Blavatnik."
  • Change the second and third sentences, which vaguely refer to the company's "ambition" and how much money it "aims to invest," to the more factual and concise: "The company's stated aim was to be 'one of the world's leading independent investors in the entertainment media sector.'"[1] And follow that with an additional sentence on the entertainment categories in which the company invests: "Access Entertainment invests in content for theatre, film, television, gaming, the creator economy and the visual arts."[2]
  • Please add the following sentence on Cohen's role in A24 films:
Under Cohen's leadership, Access has invested in the production company A24, and, alongside Blavatnik, he has been named as executive producer on several A24 films, including Beau is Afraid, The Iron Claw and the Oscar-winning film The Zone of Interest.[3]

Infobox, BBC Three, and Personal life

[edit]

Hello again. I have a few more edits to suggest.

  • In the infobox, please change the "Known for" field from the inaccurate and overly broad "Contribution to comedy and entertainment" to the more specific "Former Director of BBC Television"
  • In the "Controller of BBC Three" section, the list of TV series names at the end of the first paragraph is excessively long, so please trim by removing Lip Service and Lee Nelson's Well Good Show.
  • In the "Personal life" section, please add Daniel Craig[1] after Rachel Weisz (his wife), as one of the attendees at the wedding.
  • At the end of the "Personal life" section, please add the following:
Since the October 7, 2023 Hamas-led attack on Israel and the ensuing Israel-Hamas war, Cohen has been a regular contributor to The Telegraph, writing on antisemitism in the UK. In particular, he has criticized the BBC's coverage of the war, accusing the broadcaster of anti-Israel bias.[2][3][4][5]

Thanks, C at Access (talk) 13:10, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Done. I've adding a BBC source for that last point so that there's no question for a BLP. --Masem (t) 23:09, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Masem for implementing the edit request. I had two other quick thoughts:
    • In the "President of Access Entertainment" section, could you add the following at the end? "He has also invested in creator economy firm Spotter, the mobile game developer Tripledot Studios, and the arts centre Lightroom." (Sources: The Times, The Stage)
    • In the second paragraph of the Personal life section, the part about voting for Corbyn being like a Muslim voting for Trump - though based on an accurate quote - feels like excessive and distracting detail that doesn't add anything encyclopedic to the first part of the sentence. Would it make sense to trim that part?
    Thanks again, C at Access (talk) 14:18, 13 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
added the first point, and replaced the prose with the direct quote for the second since there's more subtle meaning to it. — Masem (t) 16:32, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Jimmy Savile and Pollard report

[edit]

Hi. I'd like to request that the "Jimmy Savile and Pollard report" section be removed. After reading through the sources, it's clear that Cohen had no direct involvement in the incident- the relevance to him personally is limited to his not reading an email he was cc'd on while working at the company. This article from The Guardian covers the entire scandal in detail and doesn't mention Cohen at all. The current paragraph alludes to more connection than there really was, which is even demonstrated in the following speculative quote: "it was at least possible that further questions..." As such, this material seems to violate WP:UNDUE and does not belong in a WP:BLP. Thanks for taking the time to look this over. C at Access (talk) 14:10, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, I read the sources and at least to call this a controversy around him seems excessive. — Masem (t) 16:25, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much Masem for implementing the edits. It is much appreciated. C at Access (talk) 21:18, 4 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
