He was not on the list of attenders at the cathedral service in the Irish Times or other newspapers on 15 July 1949. He is named as 'attending the funeral' - meaning representing the government outside the cathedral, alongside most if not all government ministers, for the gun salute & cortege. Neither did Browne mention it in Against the Tide. undo
