  • curprev 15:5215:52, 31 May 2024 Nickdee111 talk contribs 44,671 bytes +328 In 1943 Gibson didn’t lead the negro league in batting avg. Tetelo Vargas did with an avg of .471. There are some who will argue Tetelo Vargas’ stat doesn’t count as he “only” played in 30 games. Vargas played in 30 of his teams 34 games. With that same convoluted thinking Gibson shouldn’t qualify either as he only played in 69 games while Stan Musial, who was the avg leader, played in 157 games. History should not be rewritten & Tetelo Vargas should not be denied his spot in history. undo Tags: Reverted Visual edit Mobile edit Mobile web edit

Gibson played in more than twice the amount the same year. Both played for the NNL. Yes, Negro League history and theor stats are convoluted as historians continuously digging into it, but you've handled this as unprofessionally as possible. Try not to pull this stunt again. undo Tags: Undo Mobile edit Mobile web edit Advanced mobile edit

Twice I removed a false statement claiming that Gibson led the negro league (and now MLB) in batting average with a .466 average as Tetelo Vargas of the New York Cubans led the league with a .471 batting average.
