Borrowed from Classical Persian قاعده (qā'ida), from Arabic قَاعِدَة (qāʕida). Compare Hindi क़ायदा (qāydā), Punjabi ਕ਼ਾਇਦਾ (qāidā) / قاعِدَہ (qā‘idah), Sindhi قاعِدو / क़ाइदो, Gujarati કાયદો (kāyado), Marathi कायदा (kāydā), Kannada ಕಾಯ್ದೆ (kāyde), Odia କାଇଦା (kāidā).
