Usage notes

edit
  • ея (jeja) is one of the few Russian terms in pre-1918 orthography in which a stressed я (ja) is pronounced like the letter ё (jo). It is therefore written with a diaeresis in a similar fashion: я̈ ().
  • Despite that, in some rhymes, this word can be pronounced as written, to preserve rhyme.
