This then gave rise to an alternative uninflected form {{m\|odt\|rū}}, which developed into Middle Dutch {{m\|dum\|ru}}, {{m\|dum\|rou}}, modern Dutch {{m\|nl\|ruw}}, {{m\|nl\|rouw}}.
