All those black screens

Hi Huihermit,

Thanks for posting screenshots of various Unices, but don't you think all those little black screens are a bit boring and hard to read? Esp. in the case of 1970s research Unix, there's really no need to set your terminal to this color scheme; the PDP-11s at Bell Labs were originally teletypes, so they would print black ink on (probably) white paper. I.e. black on white or light-yellow would emulate the original even better. Just a thought. QVVERTYVS (hm?) 11:07, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

Hi, that's a valid point, and I could consider changing the terminal settings. I just wanted screenshots from real Unix, and I was using some default terminal settings (more typical of a VT100 than a teletype). I hadn't put much thought into the terminal colors. I agree that they may be difficult to read clearly from the thumbnails, but that's basically true of any terminal screenshots. I (personally) think these types of screenshots are interesting, but maybe not everyone would agree. However, I do think they are relevant in illustrating these types of systems (especially for those who are unfamiliar with Unix or who have never used an older Unix). Best regards. Consensus was not determined until November 28, my last edit to the article was November 23. Declaring on December 1 that I am editing "against consensus" is factually incorrect, and personally insulting. The talk page section serves no purpose, and I will give you the opportunity to remove it yourself. I am not threatening you with anything, just asking you to do the correct thing. Editing during discussions

Please refrain from repeatedly removing content from articles, particularly when discussions are ongoing and previous edits have been reverted. It is not helpful. I agree with most of your points about the article's failings, but the solution is not to remove the cited, contemporary content that the article otherwise lacks. prat (talk) 23:50, 15 December 2015 (UTC)

Just because this has a citation does not make it appropriate or relevant to the article. Encyclopedia articles must be organized and on-topic. These materials are not even slightly relevant to the origins of the Unix philosophy. Huihermit (talk) 03:46, 16 December 2015 (UTC)
