Category:Governor General's Award in Visual and Media Arts winners
editYou've done great work in populating the list of winners at Governor General's Awards in Visual and Media Arts. However, that in and of itself is not a reason to depopulate Category:Governor General's Award in Visual and Media Arts winners, as you've done with such edits as this. As Wikipedia:Categories, lists, and navigation templates explains in its lead, the "grouping of articles by one method neither requires nor forbids the use of the other methods for the same informational grouping," and lists and categories should "should not be considered in conflict with each other." thanks, Shawn in Montreal (talk) 19:06, 19 May 2015 (UTC) Thanks for your message. I wrestled with the depopulating issue and worried back and forth about what to do looking at the various guidelines. I read the section you quote above and also read the over categorization cautions in regards to award recipients. WP:OCAWARD It seemed to me that the appropriate thing to do was to ensure that all the award recipients had their award listed in their article together with a link to the list page and then ensure that the list page was inclusive of all the recipients. Let me know what you think. :) Felspar13 (talk) 03:19, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, that's all great: but then you went ahead and removed the category for all the biographical articles, with the category about to be speedy deleted as an empty category when I came across it -- I'm trying to understand why. Was that your intention -- to blank the category so it would be deleted? Shawn in Montreal (talk) 12:17, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of WikiProject Manitoba/Archive
editHello Felspar13,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged WikiProject Manitoba/Archive for deletion, because it's too short to identify the subject of the article.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.
