Century High School is a public American high school located in Rochester, Minnesota. It opened in 1997 and is the largest of three public high schools in Rochester, with an enrollment exceeding 1,800 students in grades 9-12. It is part of Independent School District #535, and its address is 2525 Viola Rd. NE Rochester, MN 55906. Its mascot is the Panther, and its school colors are blue and silver.

History

Century is so named because the first graduating class received its diplomas at the turn of the century, in the year 2000.

Curricular and Extra Curricular Activities

The school mascot is a panther, so the sports teams, students, and staff are known as the Century Panthers. Century clubs includes Speech, Debate, Mock Trial, Science Olympiad, Math League, Cinemalliance, Ballroom Dance Club, Chess Club, Model United Nations, Spanish club, set construction, Four Square Club, Scrabble Club, Pit Orchestra and many other clubs and organizations. Students for a Free Greenland is also quite active on Century's campus. The Panther Playhouse puts on a drama in the fall and a musical in late winter. The Century marching band, also known as the Century Marching Panthers, led by Levi Lundak, play at football games, march in the homecoming parade, perform in their yearly indoor marching concerts, and make biennial pilgrimages to Disney World for parade performances. Also, the Pep Band plays at hockey and basketball games in the winter.

Sports

Century Sports teams include Wrestling, football, tennis, swimming, cross country running, nordic/cross country skiing*, rowing*, soccer, softball, baseball, basketball, golf, hockey, volleyball, and track and field. The Century varstiy hockey team took 3rd in the 2007 MSHSL Hockey tournament. The Century Hockey team plays at the Rochester Rec Center; while the football/ soccer team plays at the field on campus. The Century football team completed its first winning season in 2003. The following season, it was undefeated in the regular season, earning the school its first Big 9 Football Championship. The basketball team plays in a massive gym which includes 3 basketball courts.Century also has its own all-purpose fitness room in which the wrestling team practices. The wrestling team had its first winning season in 2006-2007. Century is most famous for its National Volleyball Center, which includes 8 volleyball courts and a mezzanine.

the football team was Big Nine Conference Champions in 2004, 2006 and 2007.
