edit

Safford Unified School District v. Redding, a case involving the strip search of Savana Redding, a 13-year-old student of Safford Middle School, reached the U.S. Supreme Court in 2009. She was suspected of distributing prescription-strength Ibuprofen pills due to the accusation of another student found with pills, although no pills were found.[2] The Supreme Court found that the search violated the Fourth Amendment, but qualified immunity foreclosed the suit against the individual defendants; the Court remanded the decision as to Safford's liability to the lower courts.[3]
