English: Votive amphiglyphon. Pentelic marble. Found in Neo Phaleron, Attica. This face depicts the abduction of the nymph Basile from Hades by the hero Echelos. Hermes, holding a whiplash in his right hand, drives the chariot that transports the two figures. "Hermes", Echelos" and "Basile" are names inscribed on the epistyle. This was dedicated by Kephisodotos, son of Demogenes. ca.410 BCE. N°1783
