Andreu (Catalan pronunciation: [ənˈdɾew], Catalan pronunciation: [anˈdɾew]) is a common Catalan and southern France given name of Ancient Greek origin, which also appears as a surname. The word Andreu can be derived etymologically to the ancient word Andros that means "The Man" thus the name Andreu meaning the one who is "manly", "strong", "courageous" or a "warrior". The English language equivalent name is Andrew.
