Bottom Cymmer

Is this for real or just a joke? (IngsocV 12:59, 23 October 2006 (UTC))Reply

It's for real. We really do call it that. King Harlequin 21:36, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Isn't it better for this article to be called "Cymmer, Afan Valley"? This is because local authorities change at the whim of Government. If Wikipedia was here before 1996 then the article would have been called "Cymmer, West Glamorgan". Indeed, if Wikipedia was here before 1974 (!) the article would have been called "Cymmer, Glamorgan" but since there's another Cymmer in the Rhondda that wouldn't have worked. There is currently pressure to change county boundaries again in the near future. "Cymmer, Afan Valley" would be appropriate and wouldn't change whatever boundary changes there were. --Huwbwici (talk) 08:31, 5 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

A fair point, but we might get (and indeed have in the past got) into all sorts of POV arguments about which 'region' or 'district' should be the appropriate disambiguator for particular places. I think that's why we have a convention based around local government entities.--Pondle (talk) 23:24, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
