Joey Waronker (born, May 20, 1969) is an American drummer most notable for his work with Beck, but was also a session drummer on The Smashing Pumpkins album Adore and toured with R.E.M. between 1998 and 2002 (appearing on two albums in the process) after the departure of Bill Berry in 1997 (see Joey Waronker: The R.E.M. years). He also worked with Ima Robot for a short period of time. His first professional project was the Saint Paul, Minnesota indie group Walt Mink in the early 1990s while he was attending Macalester College. He has played on two Elliott Smith albums: on the 1998 album XO he played on the songs "Bled White" and "Bottle Up and Explode!" On the 2000 album Figure 8 he played on the song "Stupidity Tries", which was one of three recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London. He also worked with Johnny Cash, Nelly Furtado and Gemma Hayes.

Waronker is the son of record producer Lenny Waronker and singer/actress Donna Loren, grandson of record executive Simon Waronker, and brother of Anna Waronker. He grew up in Pacific Palisades, California.

Although he only contributed on three songs on the Smashing Pumpkins' Adore, Waronker was invited to become the band's full-time drummer (at least for that album's tour) but declined as his financial requests were not met.
