Scott Richard Hanson (born June 24, 1971) is an American television anchor and reporter for NFL Network. He is currently the host of the NFL RedZone.

Early life and education

Hanson was born and raised in the city of Rochester, Michigan. He attended Bishop Foley Catholic High School in Madison Heights, Michigan. There he was an all-conference football player serving as team captain his senior year. Despite receiving a few offers from small colleges to play football, Hanson was more focused on his goal to pursue a career in sportscasting.

This landed the budding journalist at Syracuse University. There Hanson walked on to the football team in the Fall of 1989 as a long snapper. He also served as a wide receiver and defensive back on the scout team, once lining up with future NFL superstar Marvin Harrison. Scott was selected as Defensive Scout Team player of the year in 1991 by then graduate assistant coach, Scott Pioli. Hanson's career at Syracuse ended with a Syracuse Orangemen victory in the 1993 Fiesta Bowl. Academically he made the Dean's List all four years and graduated Cum Laude from Syracuse's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

Professional career

In 1993 Hanson landed his first job as an anchor and reporter for NBC affiliate WPBN-TV in Traverse City, Michigan. He then moved to Springfield, Illinois in 1994, sticking with NBC to be a reporter for WICS-TV. Next, Hanson headed south to WFTS-TV in Tampa, Florida, where he covered the Tampa Bay Buccaneers rise under coach Tony Dungy. Scott then did a two year stint in 2000 with Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia where he served as an anchor on SportsNite as well as intermission reporter for the Philadelphia Flyers. In 2002, Hanson moved to Comcast SportsNet Washington. In 2006 he made his final jump to the NFL Network where he serves as a reporter, anchor, and host. Some notable on-air moments include Hanson reporting live from Brett Favre's lawn in the Summer of 2009 and being kissed by Cincinnati Bengals star Chad Ochocinco in 2008.[1]

As of 2009, he is a National Correspondent and host of NFL Network's hit show, NFL RedZone which debuted in Fall of 2009. He spends his Sundays bringing football fans NFL coverage live, on air, for 7 straight hours [2] He also files reports from NFL games, practices and events throughout the year, and can be seen on Mondays on NFL Network as host of "Up to the Minute", providing a fast-paced look at the biggest NFL headlines from the previous week, along with a preview of the Monday Night Football matchup.

In his personal time Scott likes to use his twitter, @ScottHanson, to connect with fans. He uses his suave demeanor and dynamite personality to bring joy, humor, and perspective to the lives of many humans daily. Scott is known to win women and men over in this virtual reality with his boyish charm and debonair appearance. Scott would love to speak to each and every one of his fans every day but unfortunately he cannot because his fans are innumerable and he spends more than half of each day in the gym, where he has been known to go by the nickname Scott "erryday-armday" Hanson.[3] Scott will announce soon that he will be running for President in 2016 as a member of the Party Brigade
