Head went on to play for the Brooklyn Dodgers; he was a natural left-hander but switched to his righ after breaking his arm in a bus crash in 1935.[1]
After serving in the Army and not pitching in the majors in 1945, Head pitched a no-hitter in his first start of 1946,[2] but failed to make the major league club in spring training of 1947, and never pitched in the majors again.[3] He mananged the Asheville Tourists minor league baseball club in 1949.
