Jim Wilson is an Oklahoma Senator from District 3, which includes Adair, Cherokee and Sequoyah counties, since 2004. He earlier was a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives from 2000 through 2004. He ran unsuccessfully against Democrat Incumbent US Rep. Dan Boren in Oklahoma's 2nd Congressional District in the July 27th Democratic primary. Wilson introduced SB 393 and SB 394 in January 2011; these would make several changes to homeschooling in the state, including making homeschool students subject to truancy laws; these proposed laws are being opposed as an "attack on homeschooling".
