Avigdor Arikha (born 1929) was a Jewish, Israelian artist, born in Romania, notable for detailed drawing and painting of objects of familiarity. His still life images are loosely composed. He is also an art historian, author of Peinture et Regard (1991) and On Depiction (1994), as well as many essays.
